The good news is that he is "tube free". All holes are closed and all foreign matter is out of his body. Considering the multitude of bad luck he has had with central lines, that is indeed positive news. Now our immediate goal is to get rid of this nausea and get some food into him. I have to admit, it is much nicer being at home than in the hospital. That's certainly no reflection on the folks at University Hospital, they have been so caring and efficient but we prefer our own bed.
As always, thanks for your continued acts of kindness, prayers and support.

My only experience with nausea has been with morning sickness and not even so much of that (praise the Lord!) but I have read that sour and salty are often best tolerated...like potato chips and lemonade. Also, if Bill is able to take any natural ginger (candy, cookies, capsules) it is supposed to calm the stomach. I take it on car trips to prevent motion sickness. I also wear these bands on my wrists that apply pressure to certain pressure points that prevent nausea. I think you can find them in the pharmacy section of the drug stores. (They look like athletic wrist bands with a bead on the inside- they come in a small plastic case) It may be a mental thing but they work for me! I hope this helps. Glad to know you are home. I will continue to pray for your family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do! Tell Amy hi for me; I miss her!
Holly and Bill: I'm glad that you are home - it is always better to be home. I know what you mean about searching for foods that Bill can tolerate. I spent a lot of time doing that for Russell. He seemed to enjoy orange jello and lemon pudding - a strange combination to say the least!! He never cared much for Ensure, even though I encouraged him to try some for nutrition's sake. It was always a struggle. Whatever craving he had at the time is what we went with. Holly, I think of you often and miss seeing you here at work. I'm glad that you are able to stay with Bill. God bless you both and I hope that he will be able to regain strength. Patty
